Inquiry privacy notice
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This is the short notice for anyone sending an inquiry about a car. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
1. What we collect when you write to a seller
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you give one
- Your message
- Technical details that help us spot scams: IP address, approximate location and how you reached the page
2. Why we collect it
- To pass your inquiry to the seller of the car you asked about.
- To send you a confirmation and follow-up emails about that inquiry.
- To detect and block spam, scams and abuse. Messages are screened automatically and by our staff, and a message may be held for review before it is delivered.
3. Who sees it
The seller of that car receives your name, email address, phone number and message so they can reply to you directly. After that, how the seller uses your details is up to them, though our Terms allow it only for the sale you asked about. We don’t sell your inquiry details or pass them to anyone else for their marketing.
The companies that run our systems process this information for us: Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email delivery).
4. How long we keep it
We keep inquiry records as a permanent record of the marketplace. They are how we detect repeat scammers and settle disputes between buyers and sellers. Where the law gives you a right to deletion and no exception applies, we remove or de-identify your personal details on request.
5. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from follow-up emails with the link in any of them. How to make a request, and the rights that apply in your state, are in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
