FRUNKERY

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

The short version: we collect what we need to run a marketplace, we share a buyer’s contact details with the seller they wrote to, we don’t sell your personal information for money, and you can turn off analytics and advertising cookies with one click below.

1. Who we are

frunkery.com (the “Platform”) is operated by Frunkery (a company registered in Australia, ABN 40 695 652 046). It is a marketplace for electric and hybrid cars in the United States. This policy covers the Platform and the emails we send. A shorter notice for people sending an inquiry is on the inquiry privacy notice, and the cookies we use are listed in the Cookie Policy.

2. Information we collect

You give us:

  • Account details: name, email address, phone number, city, state and ZIP code.
  • Listing details: the vehicle’s VIN, mileage, price, photos, video link, description, location and your Condition Report answers.
  • Inquiries and messages: what you write to a seller or to us, and your contact details.
  • Saved cars, alerts and “want to buy” requests.
  • Community posts, reviews and reports.
  • Business details, if you are a dealer or claim a service-provider page: business name, address, license or tax information you choose to give.
  • Newsletter and early-access sign-ups.

We collect automatically:

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser, pages viewed, actions taken and approximate location (country, state, city) derived from your IP address.
  • How you first reached us: the referring site and campaign tags on the link you followed.
  • Cookies and local storage (see the Cookie Policy).

We receive from others:

  • Payment confirmation from Stripe when you buy a plan or boost. Stripe handles your card: we never see or store the full card number.
  • Vehicle data matched to a VIN from government sources (NHTSA, EPA).
  • Public business information for the services directory (business name, address, phone, website, ratings and license records), which relates to businesses rather than private individuals.

We don’t ask for Social Security numbers or driver’s license numbers, and we don’t collect precise GPS location.

3. How we use it

  • To run the Platform: accounts, listings, search, inquiries, saved cars and alerts.
  • To pass an inquiry to the seller and help both sides follow up.
  • To send service emails (sign-in codes, inquiry notifications, listing status, receipts).
  • To send marketing emails, such as alerts, the newsletter and offers. Each one has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the marketplace safe: screening for spam, scams and fraud, moderating listings and messages, enforcing our Terms.
  • To understand and improve the Platform, and to measure how our advertising performs.
  • To draft text with artificial-intelligence tools when you ask for it (for example a listing description), and to help screen content.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We don’t send marketing text messages or make marketing calls.

4. Who we share it with

  • The other side of an inquiry. A seller receives the buyer’s name, email, phone number (if given) and message. A buyer sees what the seller chose to publish.
  • The public. Listings, community posts and reviews are public. Private sellers are shown by first name and last initial. A sold listing stays up without the seller’s details.
  • Service providers who work for us under contract: hosting and database (Vercel, Supabase), email (Resend), payments (Stripe), analytics (PostHog, Google Analytics), advertising measurement (Google, Meta), maps and business data (Google), and artificial-intelligence processing (Anthropic).
  • Authorities and others when the law requires it, to protect users from fraud or harm, or as part of a merger or sale of the business.

Selling and sharing. We don’t sell your personal information for money. Like most sites, we use advertising and analytics cookies, and some state laws treat that as “sharing” or a “sale” for targeted advertising. You can opt out in section 6. We don’t knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

5. How long we keep it

We keep account information while your account is open, and afterwards for as long as we need it for fraud prevention, disputes, tax and legal obligations. Listings and inquiries are kept as a permanent record of the marketplace: they help us detect repeat scams and settle disputes. A sold listing stays visible without the seller’s details. On request we remove or de-identify personal details where the law gives you that right and no exception applies.

6. Your choices and rights

Analytics and advertising cookies. Use this button to turn them off (or back on) for this browser. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends it, we treat it as an opt-out automatically.

Marketing email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we’ll do it for you.

State privacy rights. Depending on where you live (California and a growing number of other states), you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your information, subject to legal exceptions;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your information and of targeted advertising;
  • not be treated differently for using these rights;
  • appeal if we decline your request.

We extend these rights to everyone in the United States, wherever you live. To use them, email hello@frunkery.com from the address on your account. We’ll confirm it’s you by replying to that address, and we answer within 45 days. You can ask someone to act for you with written permission. To appeal a decision, reply to our answer and say so.

California “Shine the Light”. We don’t give your personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

7. Categories, for California residents

In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from the sources and for the purposes described above: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); commercial information (plans and boosts bought); internet activity (pages viewed, actions taken); approximate geolocation; and content you submit (listings, messages, posts). We disclose identifiers, internet activity and approximate geolocation to the service providers in section 4. We don’t use sensitive personal information for anything beyond providing the service.

8. Children

The Platform is for adults. You must be 18 to create an account, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on our database, and we confirm your email address with a one-time code. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password and keep your email account safe. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

10. Where your information is processed

The Platform is hosted in the United States. The company that operates it is registered in Australia, and its staff may access information from there to run and support the service. The Platform is not offered to people outside the United States.

11. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top, and for material changes we email registered users or post a notice on the Platform first.
