I brought my trailer in for service due to a bearing issue. I had a conversation with Alex, during which I explicitly stated that our hubs utilize grease lubrication. However, Alex proceeded to convert the one hub that went in with the issue to an oil bath system, apparently based solely on the screw-on cap design of my trailer. I questioned this decision, emphasizing that all my hubs are designed for grease. His response was that he could rectify the situation for an additional hour of labor. After charging me for 2 hrs of labor when it only took an hr. That's why he wanted to charge me before job was done. I advise caution when dealing with this establishment. I am not looking for a refund, but I am replying to make it clear why I find your business practices unacceptable. Unauthorized Changes: The hub brought to you was packed with grease. You chose to install oil components without confirming that change with me first. Charging me extra labor to 'tear it down' and return it to its original state—after you made an unauthorized assumption—is poor service. Billing Practices: You are billing based on 'man-hours' rather than the industry-standard labor time for the job. If a job takes 1 hour of labor, it is billed as 1 hour, regardless of whether you choose to put one person or five on it. Doubling the bill because you wanted the job done faster for your own schedule is not standard practice. I will be sharing my experience with the trucking community to ensure other owner-operators are aware of how you handle authorizations and labor billing.
