I rarely leave reviews, but this experience deserves one. I purchased a Groupon for an oil change advertised at $48. Before going, I called the shop and clearly told them I had a Groupon. Not once during that call did they mention any additional fees. After driving 30 minutes and rearranging my schedule to make the appointment, I show up and suddenly I’m told there’s an extra $20 fee. That was never disclosed over the phone. When I checked the Groupon fine print, it vaguely says extra fees may apply depending on the model — which feels intentionally unclear. At that point, I was already there, had adjusted my day, and felt cornered into either walking away or paying more than expected. They did say I could request a refund, but that doesn’t give me back my time or the inconvenience. To be fair, the guy who took care of me was polite and professional — no issues with him personally. But that doesn’t change the fact that the overall process felt like a trap. This feels like a classic bait-and-switch tactic: advertise a low price to get people in the door, then add fees once they arrive so the final cost ends up close to the regular price. Transparency matters. If there are mandatory extra charges, be upfront about them — especially when a customer calls ahead to confirm. I’d recommend others double-check or avoid altogether unless you’re okay with surprise fees.
