Wagons For Sale in California

Very few. The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo are the clearest examples of battery-electric wagons sold in the US. Several other electric cars are grouped as station wagons by the EPA because of their interior volume, even though they are marketed as hatchbacks or SUVs.

EPA size classes are based on interior passenger and cargo volume, not on how a vehicle is marketed. That is why cars such as the Chevrolet Bolt EV appear as small station wagons at fueleconomy.gov. Frunkery files listings by the body style buyers actually search for.

Generally a lower vehicle with a smaller frontal area uses less energy at highway speeds than a taller one with the same battery and motors. The difference varies by model, so compare the EPA range and efficiency ratings for the specific vehicles.

Ask for a battery health report or a photo of the displayed range at a full charge, and compare it with the original EPA rating for that model year and trim. Confirm the remaining battery warranty and whether it transfers, and check open recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
