Frequently asked questions about coupes
Which electric coupes have been sold in the US?
Two-door battery-electric models with EPA ratings include the smart fortwo electric drive coupe, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, the Rolls-Royce Spectre and the two-door Dodge Charger Daytona. The choice is small compared with sedans and SUVs.
Is a four-door car with a coupe name listed here?
No. Some brands use coupe for a four-door car or SUV with a sloping roof. On Frunkery those are filed under sedans or SUVs, and this category is kept for two-door cars, which is also how federal VIN data uses the term.
Does performance driving reduce range?
Yes. Hard acceleration and high speeds use energy quickly, so real-world range in spirited driving is well below the EPA rating. Track use can also trigger power limits as the battery heats up. Check the manufacturer guidance for the specific model.
How do I check the battery on a used electric coupe?
Ask for a battery health report or a photo of the displayed range at a full charge, and compare it with the original EPA rating. Confirm the remaining battery warranty and whether it transfers, and check open recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
