EV Repair & Service Shops

There is no engine oil, spark plugs or exhaust to service. Typical items are tire rotation, brake fluid, cabin air filters, wiper blades, suspension checks and, on many models, battery coolant service at long intervals. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner manual for your model.

Any competent shop can handle tires, brakes and suspension. Work on the high-voltage battery, motors or charging system needs specific training, insulated tools and safety procedures. Ask the shop what EV training its technicians hold and which brands it works on regularly.

Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a manufacturer generally cannot void a warranty just because maintenance was done by an independent shop. Warranty repairs themselves are done by the brand dealer or service center. Keep records of all service.

Often, because regenerative braking slows the car using the motor. Brakes that are used less can corrode or stick instead, particularly where roads are salted, so periodic brake inspection and cleaning still matters.
